BETTER BUSINESS
9th May, Classic Flyers Aircraft Museum, Tauranga
with topical workshop on 10th May
Competing with Fabricated Metal Products Imports
Metals New Zealand in conjunction with its industry association partners HERA, SCNZ, NZSSDA, NASH, CTNZ, GANZ and TIDA hosted the Metals NZ Industry Conference 2013 at the Classic Flyers Aircraft Museum in Tauranga. The theme of the Metals NZ Industry Conference was Better Business and we believe benefited the widest range of members.
The Conference format was more compact than before but was very focused with high quality presentations by Dr Steven Schmid, Nick Inskip, Boaz Habbib, sector groups NASH and SCNZ. Industry Tours in the morning were organised by sector groups TiDA and NZSSDA.
The main conference event started at 4pm with the Minister Steven Joyce calling into the conference from Wellington, and keynote presentations by Noel Davies (Metals NZ Chairman), Dennis O'Neill, Sir Graham Henry and Catherine Beard. T he Metals Industry Awards Gala Dinner followed, starting at 7pm.
The supplementary optional workshop the next day on our industry's response to increased pressure from fabricated metals products imports was held at the Trinity Wharf.

We thank all our Sponsors (NZ Steel, Steel & Tube, Competenz, Sandvik, ACC, AUT, ICN, NDA, OneSteel, Engineering News, NZ Manufacturer and Worldskills), and Exhibitors (Syntech, Page Macrae, CTNZ, and Tata) for making this event possible.
Dr Wolfgang Scholz
HERA Director and Secretary of Metals New Zealand
